Creative Children’s Camps during school holidays at Giverny

School holidays are great aren’t they? ---

Typically, the camps are 3 to 4 days long. Children experience a variety of interesting art and craft forms. Imagine spending some of your school vacations silk-screening a T-shirt with your very own design.

Clay work is a firm favourite – you should see the wonderful model farm and wild animals made by the kids.

Decoupage always goes down a treat. What a great idea to bring home Mom a tissue box beautifully decorated by little ol’ me. Or some cool bookends.

Have you heard of the magic carpet ride? This is when the kids weave delightful little mats from waste material. Most of the youngsters would weave all day if you didn’t drag them onto the next activity.

Working with wire is also popular. Boys and girls! Same with creating with leather and wood.

Of course it isn’t all work and no play. And when it’s time to play there is the entire Giverny garden to roam in. The one pirate’s den is just up from the studio. The other? Well that is just near the secret garden.

The camps are suitable for children between 6 and 14. They are flexibly structured so that a child can attend for the whole camp or just a day. Some go home every evening should home be close by (Howick, Hilton, Maritzburg). For others, home could be several hours away. For them we offer great overnight accommodation.

Lunches are provided to all children and breakfast and dinner to those sleeping over.

School holidays need never get boring - NOT when there is a place like Giverny around. The effect on a child of 3 to 4 days creating craft objects or painting is quite astounding – they become energised - ready for anything (ready for school!) It is of course also the invigorating country environment, playing in the garden and meeting new friends. School holidays were never like this
