A year-end lunch in a million.
Is your organisation looking for a venue to hold your Christmas lunch or year-end lunch? Calling all KZN business enterprises. Government Departments. Organisations.
Here's a
way to spice up the whole day and make it one to be remembered for years to come!
Giverny Creative Country Holidays has come up with the idea to combine the organisational Christmas or year-end meal
with some hilarious and entertaining teambuilding, to set the mood for a great
celebratory event. The idea has developed from our usual teambuilding programmes
in which members of groups within organisations learn to appreciate the lighter side
of their colleagues. Typically, groups come to Giverny and take part in fun activities
involving crafts and art, which requires NOT one jot of artistic talent. For example,
participants might make masks of each other using plaster of Paris, make funny hats,
model clay, cartoon each other, and play creative games.
In the past, teams usually leave Giverny in such high spirits, that we always imagine
it to be an ideal start to an unusual lunch at one of our nearby Midlands restaurants.
We have now teamed up with some of the leading Midlands Meander restaurants to
provide the ultimate Christmas lunch year-end lunch package. Groups will come to
Giverny for two to three hours, participate in some entertaining activities before
heading off to a local restaurant. Imagine making the most outrageous surprise
Christmas cracker for a colleague or fitting them out in just the most amazing hat all
for the occasion.
So here's what happens: you bring the team from your firm or department to
Giverny Creative Country holidays, say at 10 am, spend two to three hours with us
making fun things to take with you to lunch. What activities might you expect to do?
Before coming to us, you will have chosen activities from the list below. A firm favourite is
the plaster of Paris (POP) mask making. How this works is the group splits up into
teams of two. One team member sits on a chair while the other applies strips of POP
to sitting member's suitably Vaselined face. The photo below shows how it's done
although if you are slightly claustrophobic you don't have to have your eyes, nose
and mouth totally sealed.

A mask - work in progress
Once the application of the POP is complete, the first team member goes off and sits
in the sun for 10 minutes. Once dried the POP is pulled off and left to harden further
while the "mould" goes off to wash his or her face. Then the roles are reversed and
the second team member's mask is made.

Once the masks are dry and hardened
then its time to trim them and paint them until they look like something like the
picture below.
The end result - a mask just for me!
You could make crazy hats made for yourselves or even better, make a hat for
someone else for compulsory wearing during the lunch. Highly creative Christmas
crackers? Decorations? Christmas stockings? You can make these too.
What about lunch proceeded by the entertaining art of silk-screening? This is so easy
and you can silkscreen, for example, a T-shirt for everyone to wear at lunch complete
with team name and logo. Or make banners. Tablecloths.
Fitting with our philosophy that people get to know one another better in light-hearted
situations, we have a number of hilarious games that we play. These include the
"great blind worm", "Boeresport" games such as tug of war, egg and spoon race
you could be back in primary school!
