The cottage is most suited to couples and young families. It sleeps four comfortably, but we do have additional mattresses should these be needed. Monet comprises a main bedroom, with two single beds, a second smaller bedroom with adult sized bunk beds. There is our famous rondavel lounge (that of the stunning views!) with an attractive cheery fireplace for cosy winter nights, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. There is access to a private garden with superb braai'ing and outdoor dining facilities.

A mere 70 metres away is the dam - great for swimming. On the premises are farm animals - goats, the horses and two oh so friendly border collies. All around, all day long there is the constant twitter of bird life - sunbirds, forked tailed drongos, long crested eagles, blue cranes, swallows!

The eastern edge of the uKhahlamba / Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site is but an hour away Highmoor (trout fishing and great walks) and Kamberg Nature reserve (world famous rock art.) are highly recommended and are easily accessible. Three golf courses are located about 15 minutes away. Trout fishing is available at several dams nearby.

Here in the Midlands, we always say that we often have four seasons in one day and it is true that the weather here can be fantastically changeable. Generally speaking though, summers range between misty wet days and hot steamy days, which often end with a dramatic tropical thundershower. Winters are, for the most part, mild with occasional cold wet days.

Directions: We are situated near Curry's Post 13 km from the Midlands town of Howick. Approximately 4 ½ hours from Johannesburg and 1 ½ hours from Durban.

Between Howick and Mooi River leave the N3 at the Lions River off ramp (Exit No. 114). At this exit, turn towards Curry's Post (not towards Lions River). Travel uphill on the dirt road for 3km. At the T-junction, turn left and head downhill for 400m as far as District Road D735. Turn left and immediately left again here. The entrance is well sign posted.
